The Most Popular Orthodontic Treatment for Adults

Many people want a wonderfully bright smile to greet the world. Even if they’re just on a Zoom call or waving at a stranger on the street, a smile is one of the things that can leave a lasting impression. At one time, a great smile was simply something you were born with. But now, with quality orthodontists and the latest braces, you can transform your teeth in a matter of months.

Braces, which used to be thought of as exclusively for kids and teenagers, are now perfectly acceptable for adults. Dental insurance in many cases will even cover some of the cost, making orthodontic treatment more affordable. Now we have the technology and dental expertise to give you the smile you’ve always dreamed of at any age!

The most popular orthodontic treatments for adults range from traditional braces to clear aligners. Each will set you on the path toward straight teeth and a beautiful smile.

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces are the braces we’re all familiar with: metal brackets with a wire that connects them together. Not only are they safe and effective, but they are also incredibly low cost for the smile they’ll create. Traditional braces have been proven to fix mild to severe tooth crowding issues, bite issues, and spaced teeth.

Clear Aligners

Invisalign and other clear aligners are the latest orthodontic technology and are more popular than ever. Consisting of clear plastic aligners that are perfectly molded to your teeth, they are both invisible and removable for eating, drinking, and teeth cleaning. Many adults love them for exactly these reasons, with none of the downsides of metal braces.

The most important part to remember about clear aligners is that they must be worn approximately 22 hours a day to be effective. Unlike traditional braces, which are always on, you must remember to put these back in! In order for your teeth to adjust correctly, you must also swap out the old aligners for new ones every couple of weeks or so.

The Choice Is Yours

There are many different options to choose from. While they will all successfully straighten your teeth, visibility is something to consider. If you’d also rather not deal with flossing and brushing in special ways to get around big metal wires, then you might be better off with clear aligners. As an adult, the choice is yours!
