Dr. Hugo Calero was born and raised in Cali, Colombia, where he developed a strong appreciation for healthcare, science, and service at an early age. His educational and professional journey spans both Colombia and the United States, shaping a broad, globally informed perspective on patient care. He later lived and trained in Rochester, New York, further expanding his clinical experience and approach.

Dr. Calero chose dentistry because of its critical role in overall health, comfort, and quality of life. He is deeply motivated by dentistry’s ability to help people eat, speak, and smile comfortably—improving everyday life in meaningful ways. Over time, his passion for long-term, growth-focused care led him to specialize in orthodontics.

He has more than 20 years of experience in dentistry, with over 10 years dedicated to orthodontics. His advanced training includes orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, pediatric dentistry, advanced general dentistry, TMJ care, and community dentistry. This diverse background allows Dr. Calero to approach orthodontic treatment with a comprehensive understanding of facial growth, function, and overall oral health.

Dr. Calero is drawn to orthodontics because it allows for carefully designed, science-based treatment plans. He views each orthodontic case as a system—balancing forces, timing, and biological response to achieve stable, long-term results. For him, orthodontics is both intellectually engaging and deeply rewarding, especially when he sees the confidence children gain as treatment progresses.

Outside of the office, Dr. Calero enjoys spending time with his wife and children, exploring parks, trying new restaurants, and traveling together. He has a passion for dance and art, enjoys being outdoors, and loves connecting with nature. A lifelong soccer fan, he rarely misses a game. He is also an animal lover—so much so that he once considered becoming a veterinarian. In addition, he spent several years performing in professional theater, an experience that strengthened his creativity, communication skills, and ability to connect with people of all ages.
