Florida Dentists | 3 Tips for Healthy Teeth

Brushing and flossing daily is essential for your child’s dental health routine. However, there is more your child can be doing to keep their teeth and mouth healthy. Great oral health contributes to great overall health. Check out these tips from Florida dentists to keep your little one’s teeth looking and feeling great for a lifetime of excellent oral health.

Eating Right

Proper nutrition is essential for a healthy body and a healthy mouth. Most parents know to avoid sugary foods and drinks for healthy teeth. In addition, it is important to add foods rich in fiber and calcium for strong, clean teeth. Eating leafy greens and dairy can help promote great oral health for your child.

Use Fluoride Toothpaste

Once your child’s first tooth comes in, you should consider switching to fluoride toothpaste. With tooth decay so common in children, starting to use fluoride toothpaste early on is essential to keeping young teeth healthy. It only takes a little bit of fluoride toothpaste twice daily to make a huge difference in your child’s oral health.

Don’t be Afraid of the Dentist

It is important that your child feels comfortable at the dentist. Start bringing your child to the dentist twice a year as soon as their first tooth appears, or as soon as their first birthday. In this way, your child will be familiar with their dentist and bi-yearly checkups will become routine.

Where to Find Florida Dentists for Your Child

Developing great oral health habits early is essential for a lifetime of healthy teeth. For the best Florida dentist for your child, contact Jacaranda Smiles. With wonderful dentists, your child will feel comfortable and start developing great oral habits early.

Orthodontist in Plantation | How Early Can My Child Get Braces?

When most people think of braces, they think of their teen years. However, if your child has severely crooked teeth, you might be wondering how early is too early for braces. While braces are generally suited for adolescents, there are no specific rules when a child can receive braces. For more information on braces, contact our orthodontist in Plantation!

Early Evaluation

It’s important for your child to receive an orthodontic evaluation at an early age. Once their first adult teeth start to appear, the orthodontist can check for any potential future issues. Such as protruding teeth or a misaligned bite. The earlier these issues are confronted, the easier it is to get the teeth and jaw adapted to corrective devices.

the Typical Age for Braces

Most children get braces between 10 and 14 years of age when the percentage of their adult teeth have come in. This is typically when patients receive typical metal braces. This phase lasts typically two years. However, the amount of time truly depends on the individual patient and the amount of correction that is required.

Why Get Braces?

Many people have the misconception that braces are solely for cosmetic purposes. However, while braces will enhance appearance, braces also correct oral health-related issues. For example, some issues include a protruding jaw or malocclusion. Also, if your child has very crooked teeth, proper oral hygiene can be a challenge.

I Am an Adult and Lost My Retainer or Need a New One – What Should I Do?

Call our office to see Dr. Khakhria as soon as possible. The longer you wait the more the teeth will begin to shift. Have a new retainer made before they move excessively. If they have moved too much, Dr. Khakhria will consider options to line your teeth up again. The more the teeth have moved the harder it is to get them straight again. So, don’t wait too long!!

Can I Still See the Dentist with Braces?

Absolutely, Dr. Khakhria wants you to see your dentist every 3 months for a cleaning at the very least. This also allows your dentist to communicate with Dr. Khakhria if he or she has any requests to make your treatment better. Your dentist also checks to see if you have any cavities developing. 2 sets of eyes are always better than one.

What is a Malocclusion or an Occlusion and What Are the Causes?

A malocclusion is a term used by dentists for a bad bite. A good bite is one where the teeth are aligned in a ‘u’ shape arch with no gaps or overlapping between the teeth. The opposing jaws should also meet in a way similar to a jigsaw puzzle. The teeth should fit into each other comfortably, allowing efficient chewing without damage to the teeth, gums, muscles or the TMJ. When they don’t meet in this manner, you have a malocclusion. Dr. Khakhria works to help every patient achieve the best occlusion they can.

Does Jacaranda Smiles offer financing options for orthodontic treatment?

Great futures begin with great smiles. In today’s age finance should never be an issue when it comes to you or your child’s future. Dr. Khakhria offers in house and third party financing to make it as easy as possible. There are multiple options with low down payments. There really is no reason why your child shouldn’t have the best future possible. This is one of the best investments you can make for your family’s health and future.
