What is your favorite part about your job?
Meeting and becoming friends with so many families over extended periods. Acting as a positive part of their lives and leaving them with a smile to remember me by for the rest of their lives.
What is the last movie you watched? Did you like it?
“Barfi”- it was amazing. It is a Bollywood movie, but with an incredible story that just moves anyone who watches it. It does have subtitles and is very easy to follow for non-hindi speakers. I would highly recommend it.
Where did you go on your favorite vacation and what did you do?
When I took my boys back to Kenya where I grew up. I had the chance to show them where I went to school- right from Kindergarten to High school. We even ran into my boarding school matron! (I saw her after 30 years). The whole trip was a very memorable experience
Do you have any pets? If so, what are their names?
Yes- a parrot, her name is Leela. She is a 6 month old yellow crowned amazon. Her vocabulary is increasing every day.
What is one thing you want every person to know about his or her smile?
People around you will remember your smile……. good or bad.
What do you love about Jacaranda Smiles?
I love everything about it. We have created an organization that takes pride in what we do everyday. We don’t just do orthodontics and pediatric dentistry. We help people gain huge confidence to achieve anything they want to. It just happens to be via orthodontics and pediatric dentistry that we can make them feel more confident in themselves.
What is your favorite local restaurant and why?
Kiko’s restaurant in the Fountains in Plantation. It is a great place for sushi- fresh fish and very creative. I have been going there for years.
Are you afraid of anything?
Of course, who isn’t? I have a big fear of heights! So I decided to jump out of a plane in college to face the fear…. Didn’t help. Am still scared of heights.
Have you ever had braces or Invisalign? If so, how old were you?
Absolutely. If I am going to use it on someone, I owe to them to go through it first. I went through both whilst in dental school.
What is your favorite joke?
OMG, I have so many!!!! I always have a silly joke of the week. I suppose my absolute favorite one is: “Why did the deer need braces? Because he had buck teeth!”
